Balancing Body and Mind

Why I practice yoga and meditation.

I was prompted by my local yoga teacher (at Om Prem Vancouver) to briefly ponder the motivation of why I came to class. Earlier in the day, I received an email from a fellow coach Jennifer Leon who posted a blog about "why" we choose to do things;

What is the why behind the action we take?

I realized my "why" for yoga and meditation is this: it is to practice grounding myself, create resilience and cultivate balance, so that in the storm of life which hits regularly (ironically a massive Vancouver weather storm is rolling through at this very moment) - I am responding rather than reacting.

Respond vs React

The benefits of yoga and meditation then are the ability to recognize and compare whether we react or respond!
